Kart Racing

Owner Driver or Arrive & Drive – Jurby Karting

The Isle of Man Kart Racing Association is where owner driver members race in championships.

Jurby Karting also operates separately from the race track on an arrive and drive basis.

Please contact them directly for bookings.

As the name suggests, sprint races are short – typically 10 to 15 minutes each in most classes.  On a race day, competitors in different classes of kart and different age groups will each compete in a number of heats or timed qualifying sessions followed by a final.

A typical race day on the Isle of Man will see drivers each compete in 3 heats, where grid positions are determined randomly in advance, followed by a final with the starting positions in the final determined by each driver’s finishing positions in the heats.

Sprint racing is a great way for drivers of all ages to learn racecraft as overtaking is a must when starting at the back of the grid in a race lasting only 10 laps!

Endurance races are typically range from 4 to 24 hours.

As the races are of considerable length, pit stops are required for refuelling and driver changes.

Endurance racing is a team sport, and tactics as well as speed can play a large part a team’s success or otherwise in a race.

Endurance racing is a great way for new drivers to get into the sport as they can join a team without the need to buy their own kart.

A team will usually comprise 3 or 4 drivers plus sometimes additional mechanics and other helpers who keep the team fed and watered.
